Meeting Minutes
October 3, 2007
 
 
The meeting was called to order at 12:09 pm at Main St Pub
 
Attendance: Lori, Kathy, Dawn, Mike, Kayla, and Jean
 
Approval of the agenda: Motion by Kayla supported by Dawn. MSC
 
Approval of the minutes of Sept 5th. – Not available for vote
 
Treasurers Report: Mike distributed copies of the treasurers report for the board to review. $4685.68 in money market and $496.55 in checking which did not reflect the newest dues received from Chinn-Chinn and Java Joint. We made a little over $500 profit for the recognition dinner/silent auction.
 
Election Reminder – Lori reminded the board that elections for Secretary and Treasurer would be held at the November meeting.
 
New Business
1.    Holiday Extravaganza – The board discussed holding the 3rd annual holiday extravaganza. Kayla will check with Dan Carlson to see if we can rent the Livery building and hold our event in conjunction with the downtown business walk. The date for that event is December 7th.
2.    Business listing update – Lori passed around business listing updates so records can be updated so we may produce our welcome packet for new businesses.
3.    Taste of SW Michigan – a new event was discussed with the MBA – the event would feature wine and microbrew tasting, food tasting and local SW Michigan bands.   Everything featured would be from SW Michigan. A potential date of July 26th was discussed and will be researched. Ideas included having a childrens area running from noon to 6 pm. To feature 3 bands on stage to cover music such as jazz/blues, cover music and possibly a comedian. The event itself would run one day only on a Saturday from noon to midnight. Booth spaces for arts and crafts would be in the street and a spot would run $50.
 
Unfinished Business
 
1.    MBA fall dinner wrap up – The first dinner was a success, dates for 2008 were discussed with September 29th being a potential date. It was discussed to start talking with local non-profit groups to get the word out and perhaps have a bigger turnout for 2008. 
 
Meeting was adjourned at 1:02 pm with the next meeting scheduled for November 7th.
