Meeting Minutes
June 4, 2003
 
The meeting was held at the Mattawan Village Hall Council Chambers.
 
BOARD MEMBERS PRESENT: Lori Anthony, Leslie Benson, Dan Carlson, Tom Brown, John Jackson, Rob Keorkunian, Dawn Kobreek, , Chad Slider.
 
BOARD MEMBERS ABSENT: Kim Cox, Kayla Ranger-Dean, Janet Zagar.
 
CALL TO ORDER
The meeting was called to order at 12:15 PM.
 
AGENDA
No additions or deletions were made.
 
APPROVAL OF MINUTES
Mr. Brown, supported by Mr. Jackson, moved to approve the May 7th Minutes. The motion passed unanimously.
 
TREASURER’S REPORT
Mr. Jackson stated that the MBA has $1346 in it’s account.
 
COMMUNITY STAGE REPORT
The park bandshell is coming along well. Construction should be complete by the time of the festival.
 
MATTAWAN COMMUNITY SURVEY STATISTICS
In the spring of 2003, a door-to-door canvas of the village was conducted. During the canvassing process, 465 (48.39%) out of 961 residences completed the survey. The purpose of this opinion survey was to assess the village residents’ attitudes regarding current issues and future development in Mattawan.
A brief summary was read aloud by Ms. Anthony.
 
FESTIVAL UPDATE
The Mattawan Days Festival will be held Thursday, June 12 from 5 to 10 p.m; Friday, June 13 from 5 to midnight; and Saturday, June 14 from noon to midnight. Ms. Anthony stated that volunteers are still needed.
 
COMMENTS FROM THE PUBLIC

COMMENTS FROM THE BOARD
Mr. Keorkunian proposed that the MBA attend a future village council meeting to request that the council allot funds for payment of the Red Arrow Corridor study. Mr. Jackson would like the entire business association to appear before the council to express our support for paying the full bill for the Red Arrow project. Ms. Anthony stated that the festival is coming along quite nicely. A special meeting of the MBA has been called for Monday, June 23, 2003, for noon at the village hall. The MBA will attend the Mattawan Village Council’s meeting at 7 p.m.
