Meeting called to order at 7:30 am

Board Members Present: Rob, Dawn, Leslie, Lori, John, Dan, Tom

Additions to the agenda: None

By-Law Discussion: It was decided to make the terms for officers as follows; President and Vice-President 2 years, Secretary and Treasurer 1 year. An additional board trustee was elected to make the board an odd number. Dan Carlson was elected as the additional board trustee.

Amphitheater Discussion/Summer Concert Series: Lori explained to the association that the Village had approved the MBA pursuing an amphitheater design for the park. Several ideas for design were discussed including a steel frame vs. wood frame. Elizabeth Vaughn has a contact with an architect who has offered to design a couple of amphitheater plans.

Deb Wagoner talked about the Kalamazoo Symphony summer concert series and the cost of having them come to Mattawan to perform. The cost of a single concert would be $6000, however, she did point out that the symphony could assist with some grant monies to support the cost.

Discussion then went off topic with John Stephani discussing his opinion of the festival. He feels that the festival is a direct conflict with his business and that it does not bring in any more people to Mattawan than his business brings in. Discussion then went in to how he has been dealing with conflict with the Village for the past 33 years and his many conflicts with them. The general overall feeling was that the MBA was a good arena for all to work together to resolve conflicts with the Village.

Due to the long length of discussion Member benefits and the Red Arrow Corridor agenda items were tabled.

Community Calendar of events was given to the group.

Lori Anthony reminded everyone to visit the MBA web site. There is a list serv option on the site for members to receive pertinent upcoming information and agendas prior to the meeting. There is also a meeting minute archive on the site for review.
