November 4, 2009 Meeting Minutes

The meeting was called to order at Noon

Welcome:  Heidi Jacks from Medicine Tree Pharmacy, Amelia Barker-King with the Barton Group, Angela Weenink from Mary Kay Cosmetics and Carolyn Adams from Mattawan Chiropractic Clinic

Attendance: Carolyn, Kayla, Lori, Jean, Don, Tom, Lauren, Laura, Karen, Terri, Heidi, Angela, Amelia

Approval of the Agenda: Motion by Kathy, supported by Kayla, MSC

Approval of the minutes of October 7, 2009: Motion by Kayla supported by Laura, MSC

Treasurers Report: Kayla presented her report to the board, statement in packet

Terri Doorlag: Miss Mattawan Request.  Terri noted that they are looking for a new director because she would like her daughter to participate and she cannot with Terri on the board, she is also looking to do new things.  If you know of anyone interested in this position please send them to her.

New Business

  1. By Law Modification Needed - Verbage needs to be changed from Trustee to Director.  Motion made by Kathy supported by Don. MSC
  2. Holiday Parade - Lori asked the board if they wished to participate with costumed characters in the parade this year.  If so, who would like to wear a costume.  Lori, Angela, Karen and Don all volunteered to be in the parade.  Parade begins at 6 pm at the elementary school.  Motion by Kathy supported by Laura to pay for the costume rentals.  MSC.  Lori also noted anyone interested in participating in the parade with their business were invited to do so.
  3. Kiwanis - Tom Brown is inquiring to see if other businesses have been contacted by Kiwanis to join?  Kiwanis is trying to start a chapter here in Mattawan with meetings at the Elementary School prior to 6 pm every Wednesday for 1 1/2 to 2 hours.  Group is dedicated to youth,.

Unfinished Business

  1. Elections of officers - Motion made by Kathy supported by Terri to appoint the following as officers for this term.  Lori Anthony, President, Linda Valentino-Walker, Vice President, Kayla Ranger-Dean, Treasurer and Kathy Crookes-Vought as Secretary.  Motion carries.
  2. Holiday Extravaganza - Discussion of event and expenses.  Sant suit rental $65 and thrown $20.  Motion by Jean supported by Laura to rent suit and thrown, motion carries.  Yard signs will be available on November 5th and you may pick them up at Kayla's office to help get them out.
  3. Community Guides - are printed and available and a special thank you to MPI for the printing and assembly of the guides.
