Search engine optimization tips for your web site

How well does your web site rank on Google, Yahoo and others?  To have a successful web site you need to make sure your web site ranks in the top ten for your keyword search terms.

For example if you sell "wooden gun racks" you will want to have a page optimized for wooden gun racks and also key in on other important words such as they type of wood, lets say you offer the rack in oak, walnut or pine you will need to ensure those words are also incorporated into the page.  Now if someone searches for an Oak wood gun rack you will now rank there as well.

How do we accomplish this?  First and most important is the title of your site page.  This page for example is titled "search engine optimization tips for your web site".  Next make sure your page content reflects your important keywords. 

Meta tags are not looked at by all search engines but certainly do not hurt your rankings.  Examples of meta tags for wooden gun racks would look something like this:

Meta name="keywords" content="wood gun rack rifle oak pine walnut shotgun display"

Meta name="description" content="Here you would describe your wooden rack"  Below is what is displayed on Google  when "wood gun rack" is searched (this is the number 1 listing and also happens to be a client of mine).
