Meeting Minutes
July 1, 2009

 

  • Meeting called to order at 12:03 pm
  • Attendance - Lauren, Linda, Lori, Dawn, Tom, Jean.  Kathy and Kayla excused for vacation and emergency purposes.
  • Additions to the agenda - None
  • Approval of the agenda - Motion by Dawn supported by Linda. Motions carries.
  • Approval of the minutes of June 3, 2009 - Motion by Dawn supported by Lauren, Motion carries
  • Treasurers Report - Kayla was out of town for this meeting.  Lori reported that the balances from the MBA bank statement.
  • New Business
  1. Request from DPW Superintendant Anthony for the MBA to plant the flower box in front of the Welcome to Mattawan sign.  Tom Brown offered to donate some yellow daffodil bulbs but requested that if the Village refused the flowers the MBA offered to plant and buy that we not do the project.  Motion by Linda supported by Jean to plant the box and purchase the flowers to do so.  Motion carries.  Lauren and Linda offered to work on the design and planting.
  2. Community Guide - 4 full page ads sold, 2 1/2 page ads and one 5" x 2" ad.    Suggested content from Dawn included a word scramble with business owners names used for the scramble.  Other inclusive items are: informational articles, history, events, list of notices, important phone numbers, activities and ads.  Distribution via businesses, the library, township, village and post office.
  • Unfinished Business - None
  • Comments - Discussion on letter from MPEF and the MBA's inability to choose a recipient for the scholarship.  Dawn will invite the MPEF to attend our October meeting.  
    Lori noted updated letter from the State of Michigan verifying the update of the MBA corporate existence.
