Meeting Minutes
June 3, 2009

  • Meeting called to order at 12:13 pm
  • Welcome - 2 new businesses will be opening - one of them will be taking over and existing restaurant (unsure which one), the other new business will  be a convenience store.  It will provide copying and faxing service and food items. 
  • Attendance - Lauren, Dawn, Karen, Jean, Lori, Kathy and Kayla
  • Additions to the agenda - none
  • Approval of the agenda - Motion by Jean, supported by Lauren.  Motion carries
  • Approval of the minutes of May 7, 2009 - Motion by Lauren supported by Dawn.  Motion carries.
  • Treasurers Report - Kayla did a report on the bank balances and will transfer $500 over to checking for the scholarship fund payment.

  1. Nominations for appreciation dinner
  • Kayla Ranger-Dean nominated for Business most helpful to the MBA
  • Wagoners Hometown Foods nominated for Business of the Year
  • Powell Custom Homes nominated for Corporate Business of the year
  • Tom Anthony nominated for Citizen of the Year
  • Additional ideas for 2010 include teacher of the year and employee of the year

  1. Press release update - In the Courier Leader there was a press release abot the fall appreciation dinner, scholarship, web site, holiday extravaganza and meeting times.
  2. Buck for Luck or Welcome to the Community - to get the MBA introduced to new businesses.  Kathy motioned to approve "welcome to the community" plaques, Jean supported the motion.  Motion carries.
